We're supporting Frisbee Outreach

We're going to work on getting a good frisbee group going...So
Stone Soup, for March 30, plays frisbee at Harmon Field this week. Everybody can meet at 1:45 at the Wesley cottage. Then everyone can carpool with Rob down to the field to play ultimate frisbee with Thomas. If the weather is bad Stone Soup will be canceled.
Bring snacks and drinks for refreshment.
We're working on the Fruits of the Spirit series (Galatians 5:22-23)  and this week is Kindness and Generosity.  We'll look at generosity in the feeding of the 5000 (John 6:1-15)

Stone Soup 2:00 p.m...Not a spirit of cowardice, but rather of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Stone Soup Meets at 2 p.m. this week.
If the weather permits we'll carpool down to Harmon Field to play Ultimate Frisbee.

If the weather keeps us inside, we'll have movie day and watch the Croods.
We're working on the Fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23 and this week we're looking at the fruit of self-control. Another great Bible verse that goes with this life in the Spirit comes from 2 Timothy1:7 for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. It goes well with the movie The Croods.
Bring movie snacks we can share no matter what we do.
We should be done by 4:30 pm.

Staying Safe in the Face of Danger

Sunday 3/9 Ground School: Rock Climbing Training and Instruction
Scott and Christy Thrift will be teaching us rock climbing safety techniques this week.
We won't actually be climbing cliffs but will be learning what we need to be successful and stay safe when we do climb later in the spring. They are the owners and leaders of Thrifty Adventures (thriftyadventuresnc.com)

Our lesson will focus on how we stay safe in life when it feels dangerous. We'll talk about the questions of what to do when we feel loveless, hopeless and meaningless.
We'll look at Corinthians and other scriptures And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love. Corinthians 13:13

For dinner, I'll bring bread, PB and J, you bring what you want for sandwiches or to go with them.

In Matthew 26:6-13 and Luke 7:36-50 we see Jesus comment on the expression of love in the giving of a gift and in human touch. We'll talk about the importance of our being able to express our love using all the love languages.
Dinner will be baked potato bar. We’ll get a volunteer to bring potatoes and everyone else can bring what goes on baked potatoes.

March 9 Rock Climbing Training and Dealing with Dangerous Situations in Life

We’ll get some training for rock climbing and belaying (we won't be actually 'rock climbing' this day) from Christy and Scott Thrift (the owners of Thrifty Adventures Wilderness Guiding Service). We’ll learn knots and commands and we’ll talk about the spiritual aspects of climbing.
Then we'll also get some training in what to do when we find ourselves in dangerous situations (when we're overwhelmed by despair, or in a group which is doing something we know we shouldn't, etc)
Dinner will be a sandwich bar.

Fabulous Feast Night

February 23 Friendship Feast
4-6p.m. Wesley Cottage Wear a nice sweater or jacket

We’ll begin by talking about how important Quality Time and Acts of Service are to our loving relationships. Luke 10:38-42 Is the story of Mary and Martha and highlights the contrasts and complimentary nature in our love languages.

Then we’ll get started on our Feast. We’ll have beautiful food and we’ll get lessons on etiquette from a local dinner  party enthusiast. Learning etiquette will allow us to show respect to others and will equip us for the most important of dinners. This is part of developing assets in our youth as a way to build resiliency. It will be a fabulous Friendship Feast.

Katrina’s bringing the entree, Rob is brining salad and green beans…
We need people to sign up to bring: a vegetable casserole (no noodles), rolls, soup or dessert. Call Rob with questions and RSVP 828-606-3452

Come no matter if you can't bring anything or RSVP, we want you here; invite a friend and we'll see you then!
