Palm Sunday

Stone Soup will meet this Sunday at 11 a.m. for the Palm Sunday worship celebration.
The worship service will begin with the Procession of Palms by the children and choir.
It is a beautiful way to begin Holy Week which leads up to Easter.
For Stone Soup and others we'll have:
4/13 Palm Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary
4/17 Maundy Thursday Communion Service at 7 p.m. (remembering Jesus' Last Supper)
4/18 Good Friday Community Service at Tryon Congregational Church at noon
4/20 Easter Sunrise Community Service on Orchard Hill at 6:45 a.m. with light breakfast to follow in the fellowship hall
4/20 Traditional Easter Service at 11 a.m.

Palm Sunday?
Here's Wiki's response:
Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus'triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in all four canonical Gospels.[3]
In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday includes a procession of the assembled worshipers carrying palms, representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem. The difficulty of procuring palms in unfavorable climates led to their substitution with branches of native trees, including boxyew, willow, and olive. The Sunday was often designated by the names of these trees, as in Yew Sunday, or by the general term Branch Sunday.

We're supporting Frisbee Outreach

We're going to work on getting a good frisbee group going...So
Stone Soup, for March 30, plays frisbee at Harmon Field this week. Everybody can meet at 1:45 at the Wesley cottage. Then everyone can carpool with Rob down to the field to play ultimate frisbee with Thomas. If the weather is bad Stone Soup will be canceled.
Bring snacks and drinks for refreshment.
We're working on the Fruits of the Spirit series (Galatians 5:22-23)  and this week is Kindness and Generosity.  We'll look at generosity in the feeding of the 5000 (John 6:1-15)

Stone Soup 2:00 p.m...Not a spirit of cowardice, but rather of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Stone Soup Meets at 2 p.m. this week.
If the weather permits we'll carpool down to Harmon Field to play Ultimate Frisbee.

If the weather keeps us inside, we'll have movie day and watch the Croods.
We're working on the Fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23 and this week we're looking at the fruit of self-control. Another great Bible verse that goes with this life in the Spirit comes from 2 Timothy1:7 for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. It goes well with the movie The Croods.
Bring movie snacks we can share no matter what we do.
We should be done by 4:30 pm.

Staying Safe in the Face of Danger

Sunday 3/9 Ground School: Rock Climbing Training and Instruction
Scott and Christy Thrift will be teaching us rock climbing safety techniques this week.
We won't actually be climbing cliffs but will be learning what we need to be successful and stay safe when we do climb later in the spring. They are the owners and leaders of Thrifty Adventures (thriftyadventuresnc.com)

Our lesson will focus on how we stay safe in life when it feels dangerous. We'll talk about the questions of what to do when we feel loveless, hopeless and meaningless.
We'll look at Corinthians and other scriptures And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love. Corinthians 13:13

For dinner, I'll bring bread, PB and J, you bring what you want for sandwiches or to go with them.
